JSE-listed technology group Altech has entered into a formal business relationship with China’s Huawei. Under the “value-added partner” agreement, Altech will provide Huawei Enterprise products, services and support in countries across Southern and East Africa.
Huawei Enterprise business group president Lauren Fan says the deal with Altech is an “important step” in the Chinese company’s development of its enterprise business in the region.
The enterprise market is a new area of focus for Huawei in SA. According to Fan, Altech was chosen as its partner due its established relationships in the enterprise space.
“Altech’s customers and partners across the public and private sectors will benefit from Huawei’s expertise in design, implementation, lifecycle and managed services,” says Altech Group CEO Craig Venter in a statement.
With Huawei, Altech will be able to provide high-end fleet management services, traffic monitoring applications, cloud infrastructure and other services, the company says.
Altech says another component of the partnership is it gives it the ability to distribute Huawei devices, such as smartphones and tablets, through Altech Autopage Cellular. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
