The freshly restructured and recapitalised Cell C has launched a range of new products, called “social bundles”, which offer data, “free” social media access and a large volume of any-network voice minutes.
The plans, which are available from 20 September, start at R29/month for 100MB of data, 100MB of WhatsApp and Facebook data, and 150 any-network minutes. Three hundred SMSes are included in all the plans, along with either five or 10 free games.
At the high end, Cell C is offering 5GB of data, 3GB of Facebook and WhatsApp data, and 3 600 any-network minutes (see the table below for more information).
The new plans come just a day after the operator said it would slash out-of-bundle data pricing on certain packages to 15c/MB (about R150/GB) and relax data expiry rules.
Customers can use the Facebook and WhatsApp data allocations without impacting the regular in-bundle data.
Customers on all prepaid plans, the post-paid Connector plans, Pinnacle plans and SmartData offers, will be able to purchase the new bundles. They can carry over unused value by purchasing a minimum basic social bundle, Cell C said. The seven promotional bundles all have a 30-day validity period.
At the same time, Cell C is introducing a fair-use policy on its standalone WhatsApp plan. From 1 October, a 600MB FUP will apply, it said. — (c) 2017 NewsCentral Media
