South African-headquartered technology services group Dimension Data has upped in presence in West Africa by opening an office in Ghana.
The group has been operating in the West African market for the past decade, with an operation in Nigeria, it said. In addition, Dimension Data has offices in Nigeria through its subsidiary Plessey, and in both Nigeria and Ghana through Internet Solutions.
“The market in West Africa is growing, and Ghana is going to play a key role in our growth,” said Dimension Data West Africa MD Glad Dibetso in a statement.
The group employs 37 permanent staff in Ghana and plans to increase its system integration business there in the next 12 months.
According to The World Bank, IT and the highly visible construction sector now account for half of Ghana’s national income. This is in addition to gold, cocoa and oil, which continue to dominate exports.
Dimension Data intends working with partners Cisco and Microsoft to expand sales of their products and solutions in the West African nation. — (c) 2014 NewsCentral Media
