Eskom’s prepaid vending systems were experiencing technical problems on Thursday, the utility said.
“Eskom prepaid customers may have been experiencing a slow, intermittent, or offline service when buying prepaid electricity,” Eskom said in a statement.
The utility said it was running on its backup system while it attended to a technical problem with its main prepaid vending system.
“Customers should be able to purchase prepayment electricity at all the normal vending outlets during this time,” Eskom said.
