First National Bank has been named as the most innovative bank worldwide for 2012 at the BAI-Finacle Global Banking Awards in Washington, DC.
The awards are designed to recognise banks for “game-changing products, services, practices and other achievements”.
“Running since 2004, and through the FNB Innovators Programme, 5 585 innovations have been implemented to date, which have contributed towards the strategic direction of the bank,” FNB CEO Michael Jordaan says.
In addition to the main award, FNB’s eWallet service was named as a finalist in the product/service innovation category of the 2012 awards.
Some of the products that contributed to the bank winning the main award included “Bank in a bag”, its new dotFNB branches, fuel reward and the FNB Banking app for smartphones.
FNB has an annual innovations award. During the year, the bank encourages employees to be create and implement innovative solutions. In 2012, there more 1 416 innovations entered that were also implemented. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
