Vodacom has revealed just how much consumers itching to get their hands on Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, will have to pony up to get their hands on the Korean company’s new flagship smartphones. And the devices do not come cheap.
The phones, announced in March at an event in Barcelona, Spain, will go on sale in store and online from 10 April and will start at R12 399 on prepaid for the base 32GB LTE S6 model.
The 32GB S6, which will be available in black, white and gold, will also be available on a range of contracts, starting with the Smart S post-paid plan, where consumers can expect to pay R529/month for two years. Plans come with 1GB of data extra for three months.
All devices also come with a wireless charger and cover.
Those wanting the premium, 64GB, LTE-powered S6 edge model will have to fork out R16 149 to buy the phone prepaid through Vodacom — that’s the same price as a premium notebook computer. There are also post-paid plans available for the S6 edge, with a two-year Smart S commitment fetching R679/month.
The edge model comes with the same benefits as the regular S6, including the additional 1GB of data for three months and the wireless charger.
The gold versions of the S6 and S6 edge are only available in South Africa through Vodacom, the operator said. — © 2015 NewsCentral Media
