MTN shuffles Africa leadership

MTN has appointed Ahmed Faroukh as vice president of its West and Central African Africa region, promoting him from his position as CEO of MTN Nigeria.

The region Faroukh will lead includes operations in Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Congo-Brazaville, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Liberia and Benin.

Under his five-year tenure as MTN Nigeria CEO, the operation has flourished and become MTN’s largest subsidiary.

Brett Goschen, who is CEO of MTN Ghana will take over at chief at the Nigerian operation. He is no stranger to Nigeria, having worked as MTN’s chief financial officer in the country from 2003 to 2006 before he moved to Ghana.

In Ghana, Goschen will be replaced by Michael Ikpoki, the sales and distribution executive for MTN Nigeria. Ikpoki joined MTN Nigeria as regulatory advisor in 2001.  — Staff reporter, TechCentral
