Neotel parent, India’s Tata Communications, has a new CEO. The company has announced that Vinod Kumar will replace Srinath Narasimhan on 1 February.
Kumar, who joined Tata Communications in April 2004, has been closely involved in the acquisitions of TGN and Teleglobe and has led the company’s international operations. Most recently, he was its chief operating officer.
Narasimhan has been appointed as CEO of Tata Communications sister company Tata Teleservices.
Down the line, Kumar’s appointment could have a big bearing on Neotel, which is in the throes of a restructuring that it expects will lead to retrenchments.
A management shake-up is said to be on the cards at Neotel with speculation by senior staffers that CEO Ajay Pandey could be recalled by mid-year.
For now, Narasimhan will stay on as Neotel nonexecutive chairman. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
