Cell C has appointed Robert Pasley to the combined position of chief financial and strategy officer with immediate effect, the mobile operator said on Monday.
Pasley takes over the finance role from Fabrizio Mambrini, who resigned in January. Mambrini left Cell C to return to the company’s foreign parent, Oger Telecom, where he was previously director of international operations.
A chartered accountant and theoretical physicist, Pasley has acted in the finance role since Mambrini left Cell C.
“Pasley has a wealth of experience in the financial intricacies of the telecommunications industry,” Cell C said in the statement. “In 1993, he was involved in the development of Vodacom’s original business plan and played a role in several large-scale business acquisitions in the telecoms space.”
He was previously group executive of finance and director of corporate strategy at the telecoms operator. Before he joined Cell C, he owned and ran his own strategy consulting business, which consulted to several high-profile South African businesses.
“I am pleased that Robert agreed to accept the position. His knowledge and experience will definitely be beneficial to Cell C,” said CEO Alan Knott-Craig in the statement. — (c) 2013 NewsCentral Media
