Gauteng-based talk radio station 702 has a new station manager. Thabisile Mbete is taking the reins from the long-serving Pheladi Gwangwa.
Gwangwa, who is a lawyer by training, joined Primedia Broadcasting in 2003 as regulatory affairs manager. She was then appointed as 702 station manager in March 2005.
Mbete is currently Primedia Broadcasting’s group content editor and was previously an executive producer for the John Robbie show, which is broadcast in the important prime time breakfast slot between 6am and 9am on weekdays.
“Thabisile is immersed in the current affairs landscape, and has both experience in and instincts for the talk radio format,” said Primedia Broadcasting CEO Terry Volkwyn in a statement.
