Police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property after a cellphone store was broken into at the Musgrave Centre shopping mall in Durban on Sunday morning, police said.
“Tills were left open and the safe was tampered with but nothing was stolen,” police spokesman Thulani Zwane said.
Pictures circulating on WhatsApp identify the store as the MTN franchise on the centre’s second floor.
Zwane said the centre’s entrance on that floor as well as the store’s door were damaged in the incident which happened at 5am.
No arrests have been made.
