Google has announced the graduation of the first cohort of South African businesses from its start-ups accelerator.

The website address google.co.za, which many South Africans use to access the Google search engine, was unavailable on Friday.

Google has hired advertising industry veteran Alistair Mokoena as its new country director for South Africa. Mokoena replaces Luke Mckend in the role.
