Altech’s former group chief operating officer, Andy Baker, has been named as the new CEO of Nashua Mobile, a direct rival to Altech’s Autopage Cellular unit.
Baker, who resigned from the JSE-listed Altech eight months ago after four years at the technology group, will take the reins at Nashua Mobile, a subsidiary of the Reunert Group, in March 2011.
He will take over from Chris Scoble, who resigned in August. Until March, John Ellis, Nashua Mobile’s financial director, will act as CEO.
Baker has spent the past eight months as CEO of privately owned digital printing and labelling company Kemtek Imaging Systems. He had been expected to buy an equity stake in the business when he joined.
It’s understood that Baker has already left Kemtek. — Candice Jones, TechCentral
