Motorola this week unveiled its iPad rival, the Xoom, at the CES consumer electronics show in Las Vegas.
The new tablet, which is the first to use the Android 3.0 “Honeycomb” operating system, is expected to go on sale internationally next month.
The Xoom sports a 1GHz dual-core Tegra processor and 32GB of internal memory standard, upgradeable to 64GB. It has a 10,1-inch screen that supports high-definition video at 1080p resolution.
It looks as though connectivity options will be abundant and it will support almost all wireless options, including, eventually, long-term evolution, the successor technology to the third-generation mobile networks in use today.
Media attending CES are hailing the Xoom as the first tablet that could give Apple’s iPad a real run for its money. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
