Eskom is progressing well with the maintenance of its power generation plant, it said on Wednesday, adding that no load shedding has been implemented for over nine months.
Energy availability is continuing to improve and now sits at 77,02% year-to-date, with unplanned breakdowns at 10,98% and planned maintenance at 12%.
“As per our previous communication, we have already started to ramp down planned maintenance and ramp up energy availability for the expected winter peak so that we will have sufficient capacity to meet demand while we still conduct the required maintenance on our power station units,” said the utility.
Meanwhile, the utility confirmed that Elsie Pule is the new group executive for human resources. Pule has been acting in this position since November 2014.
Eskom CEO Brian Molefe said the confirmation of Pule will bring stability and continuity to the programmes that she had already initiated within her department.
Molefe said Pule’s appointment is in line with the company’s target of achieving 45,7% of women representation at both middle and senior management level by 2020.
Pule joined Eskom in 1995 and has extensive experience in the field of human resources. She was also chief officer for human resources at the South African Revenue Service from March 2010 to November 2012 before re-joining Eskom in December 2012. — SAnews
