Barely four months after joining Telkom’s BCX subsidiary as chief operating officer, Michael Buttner has resigned.
Telkom confirmed on Wednesday that Buttner will leave BCX’s employ at the end of the month.
Buttner joined BCX from T-Systems, where he served as vice president of sales and service management and vice president of service delivery.
He also spent three years in the Netherlands with T-Systems and has three decades’ experience in the ICT and financial services industries. He previously held positions at Standard Bank, Gijima, AST Group, SX Enterprise Solutions and Old Mutual.
He joined BCX at the same time as former Gijima CEO Jonas Bogoshi took the reins at the company, replacing Ian Russell. Bogoshi previously served as channel sales director for Southern Africa at Dell EMC. He has also worked for T-Systems, Gijima, the State IT Agency, Cisco and IBM South Africa.
“BCX can confirm the resignation of its COO, Michael Buttner,” a Telkom spokesman said on Wednesday. “BCX wishes Michael success in his future endeavours. A replacement for Michael will be announced in due course.”
Telkom did not say why Buttner was resigning so soon after joining BCX.
“As mentioned in the Telkom financial results presentation, Telkom has been effective in succession planning for key roles. Therefore, previous executive movements have largely been anticipated and formed part of the business planning process,” the spokesman said. — © 2018 NewsCentral Media
