Newly recapitalised Cell C is continuing to introduce new products as it fights its bigger rivals for market share, on Tuesday announcing aggressively priced new data packages and promotions, including one option offering 30GB of mobile data for R899 that doesn’t expire for a full year.
On promotion from 1 October, Cell C is introducing a new range of LTE-Advanced data products aimed at contract customers who consume larger amounts of data.
A 15GB LTE-A offer, available until the end of the year, costs R149/month, down from R299 previously.
A 25GB LTE-A option comes in at R239/month, down from R499 before, while a 50GB offer will cost R489/month, reduced from R699. The larger bundles of 100GB and 200GB will cost R849 and R1 100/month respectively.
The Sim-only promotional prices will last for the duration of the contract term, but are also available on a month-to-month plan and work on both Cell C’s LTE and (more limited) LTE-A infrastructure. They’re available from 1 October until 31 December.
Alongside the new LTE contract data plans, Cell C is launching a range of permanent prepaid data deals. In addition to the company’s 100GB and 200GB “Giga” data plans, the company is introducing four new packages: 10GB, 20GB, 30GB and 50GB, priced at R599, R799, R899 and R1 099 respectively, all with 365 days of validity from purchase. The prepaid plans are available from 20 September.
Cell C CEO Jose Dos Santos said the company now has about 2 600 LTE-A sites on air, with plans to roll out a further 2 500 such sites in the next four years. — (c) 2017 NewsCentral Media
