JSE-listed Imperial Holdings has bought mobile technology start-up ForeFront Africa in a bid to enter the mobile telecommunications space. The company will form part of Imperial’s recently launched Resolve brand, whose name will change to Resolve Mobile.
The value of the deal has not be disclosed.
ForeFront was founded in 2013 by Tracy Langdon Surkont and Nic Haralambous. Both had recently exited separate ventures — Haralambous’s company, Motribe, was acquired by mobile social network Mxit — and the pair previously worked together at Vodacom.
The company was founded after Haralambous and Surkont spotted a market need for mobile talent willing to work in African countries with experience in those markets.
“Tracy and I knew that we were onto something after founding the company when we were approached by companies throughout Africa and further afield to make use of our services,” Haralambous says.
“Partnering with Imperial will bring massive opportunities to our company and assist in growth that we would have battled to achieve otherwise.”
