MTN South Africa’s chief enterprise officer, Lambo Kanagaratnam, has resigned from the company and will be replaced by former Cisco MD Alpheus Mangale, the telecommunications operator said on Tuesday.
Lambotharan is leaving the company to “pursue interests outside of the business”. He was previously chief technology officer before taking on the enterprise role.
Mangale’s appointment is effective 1 December. He was previously MD of Cisco’s South African operation.
“Alpheus is a seasoned ICT expert with over 18 years’ experience in the ICT, enterprises and public sector industries spanning the Europe, Middle East and the Africa region,” MTN said in a statement.
“He spent 15 years at Dimension Data, where he led the group’s overall technology strategy, marketing function as well as all strategic business alliances for, among others, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and EMC. During his tenure at Cisco, Mangale led all Cisco’s engagements across private and public sectors markets. He was also responsible for the company’s overall country transformation strategy with service providers and government leaders.”
News of his appointment comes just months after MTN appointed former Microsoft South Africa MD Mteto Nyati as its new group chief enterprise officer. Nyati spent 12 years at IBM, where he held a number of senior executive roles. — (c) 2014 NewsCentral Media
