Telkom CEO Nombulelo Moholi has rejected speculation that she intends resigning next month, when Telkom chairman Lazarus Zim leaves, Business Report reported on Tuesday.

“There’s nothing like that. Have you ever heard a quote from me saying that? All I can give you is I’m denying the rumour,” Moholi, who became Telkom CEO last April, told the newspaper.

She also denied rumours that communications minister Dina Pule was guilty of undue influence in Telkom’s affairs.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she told Business Report.

Telkom’s stock dropped by 13,1% in the last two days of last week, its worst two-day fall since May 2009.

Cabinet spokeswoman Phumla Williams told the newspaper on Friday that no options for Telkom had been discussed at cabinet’s meeting on 19 September.

However, the newspaper reported that on 17 September, Pule’s spokesman Siya Qoza said the minister would present her recommendations at the meeting. — Sapa
