The new iPad will go on sale in SA from on Freedom Day, 27 April, Apple said in a statement on Monday. The third generation of Apple’s hot-selling tablet computer will go on sale in 12 markets on that date, including Israel, India and Thailand.
“Apple today announced the new iPad, the third generation of its category defining mobile device, will arrive in South Korea and 11 additional countries on Friday, 20 April,” the US company said in a statement published on its website.
The new iPad features a high-resolution “Retina” display, along with a new A5X processor with quad-core graphics and a 5-megapixel camera.
The tablet will be available beginning on Friday, 20 April in Brunei, Croatia, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Malaysia, Panama, St Maarten, Uruguay and Venezuela. Beginning on Friday, 27 April, the new iPad will be available in Colombia, Estonia, India, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, SA and Thailand.
The 4G LTE version of the device will not be available in markets outside the US and Canada. As before, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi/3G variants are expected to be available to SA consumers.
