Reunert’s cellular service provider, Nashua Mobile, has reached an agreement with hotspot operator WirelessG to offer its subscribers uncapped Wi-Fi access that can be used with any of the latter’s hotspots. The service costs R39/month and is subject to a fair-use policy, where customers are throttled once they’ve used 3GB of data.
WirelessG has more than 1 800 hotspots and also supplies in-flight Wi-Fi on low-cost airline Mango’s flights. The Nashua Mobile product works at all the hotspots, including those on Mango aircraft.
The new service is available to all Nashua Mobile subscribers as a value-added service and is added to their monthly account if they opt in for the service.
Nashua Mobile CEO Mark Taylor says customers can pay a flat fee from a single account.
“South Africans love their Wi-Fi-enabled mobile devices and will soon catch up with the rest of the world where Wi-Fi has become the predominant access technology for mobile devices,” he says. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
