Telkom has announced a plan to zero-rate ShowMax data on certain of its tariff plans, allowing consumers to stream video content without it contributing to their data cap.
The offer applies to new and existing Telkom “Summer Unlimited” users.
Telkom is also giving 30 days of ShowMax access to customers that sign up for its SmartHome Premium and Smartplan 100 options before the end of December.
ShowMax is a subsidiary of technology and media giant Naspers.
“Existing Telkom fixed broadband customers can upgrade to a package with 10Mbit/s [speeds] or above and subscribe to the Telkom Internet Uncapped Entertainment Service,” Telkom said in a statement.
“New Telkom fixed broadband customers can subscribe to Telkom’s SmartHome Premium package, which includes the Telkom Internet Uncapped Entertainment Service for 24 months. New mobile customers can subscribe to the Smart Plan 100 package which includes unlimited Telkom data until 31 March 2016.”
The move comes after MTN decided to zero-rate access to its video-on-demand service FrontRow, which was recently rebranded as VU. — (c) 2015 NewsCentral Media
