Gugu Duda has been appointed as the new chief financial officer of the SABC, communications minister Dina Pule announced on Wednesday.
“Ms Duda has the relevant qualifications, skills, capabilities and experience required for the position,” the communications ministry said in a statement.
She would take up the five-year position on 1 March.
Duda, a chartered accountant, was previously the chief financial officer for Internet and telephone banking at First National Bank.
She left to join Wipcapital as executive investment manager before departing for AngloGold Ashanti to take up the position of vice president for strategy and risk integration for continental Africa.
The ministry said Pule was satisfied with the integrity of the selection and evaluation process.
“Ms Duda’s appointment reaffirms minister Pule’s commitment, after due process and consideration, to quickly filling the top executive positions at the SABC,” it said. — Sapa
