The outlook for load shedding for the foreseeable future has deteriorated significantly: Eskom will cut the power at stage 3 all weekend.
This comes after the utility said earlier on Thursday that it wouldn’t suspend load shedding at 5am as previously communicated and that stage-3 cuts would continue all day.
Eskom had planned to suspend load shedding on Friday – between 5am and 4pm, but late on Thursday said it would implement stage 3 throughout Friday and the weekend.
“Previously, we had communicated that stage 3 would be suspended at 5am on Friday. However, stage-3 load shedding will continue to be implemented until further notice. The delay in the return to service of a generating unit each at Duvha, Grootvlei, Kendal and two units at Tutuka, as well as breakdowns of a unit each at Kusile and Komati, have necessitated this escalation in load shedding,” Eskom said.
“Currently, there are no units in service at Kusile power station due to breakdowns on three unit while one unit is out of service on planned maintenance.” – © 2022 NewsCentral Media
