Cell C is introducing new 10GB and 20GB broadband packages at rates as low as 3c/MB as SA’s broadband price war gathers in intensity.
From 1 August, the company will introduce a 10GB/month package, including a 7,2Mbit/s MyZone router or 21,6Mbit/s USB modem, for R499/month on contract for 12 months or R4 999 once-off on prepaid.
The new products come just weeks after 8ta, Telkom’s mobile operator, introduced a special offer of 10GB of data for R199/month, excluding modem. Earlier on Thursday, Vodacom also cut the prices of its Broadband Standard bundle products.
The 20GB/month package, also with choice of device included, will be available at R899/month on contract or R8 999 once-off on prepaid.
Both prepaid packages will also be available as “Sim-only” variants at a R1 000 discount. Customers that already own a USB modem will be able to purchase a 120GB Sim (10GB/month) for R3 999 once-off or a 240GB Sim (20GB/month) for R7 999.
Cell C’s out-of-bundle rate of 39c/MB applies to these packages. “Coupled with our recently launched 3GB once-off offer for R399, Cell C now has a comprehensive range of broadband products that cater for a cross section of consumer needs,” says Cell C executive marketing head Simon Camerer. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
