A unit of Logicalis, a subsidiary of Johannesburg- and London-listed technology group Datatec, has bought the Colombian and Ecuadorian operations of Cibercall for cash.
The value of the deal, which is being done by Logicalis’s 60%-owned subsidiary Promon Logicalis Latin America, has not been disclosed.
Datatec says in a statement that Cibercall offers implementation, support and training as well as help-desk and managed services. It has 45 employees and achieved unaudited revenues of more than US$12m in its financial year ended 31 December 2011.
The group says the deal helps to expand Logicalis’s presence in South America.
Cibercall’s main vendor partner is Cisco and the deal strengthens Logicalis’s already strong relationship with the US-headquartered networking company, it adds.
Datatec CEO Jens Montanana says the acquisition will allow Promon Logicalis to go after a broader range of potential clients in the region, including telecommunications operators. “Notably, it also provides significant presence in South America’s third largest economy.”
Datatec’s share price was trading up by 1,3% in midmorning trade on the JSE on Friday, close to a new 12-month high. In the past year, the share has added almost 35%. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
