First National Bank has overhauled its smartphone banking app, introducing a new look and feel to the software and adding several new features.
The new-look FNB Banking App is already available for download on all major platforms, including Apple, Android and Windows Mobile. An updated BlackBerry 10 app is also in the works and should be available soon.
New features including account opening, personalised customer offers and inward Swift payments from abroad.
The app can now be used to open an account, from start to finish, in under 10 minutes, the banks says.
“Other than FNB’s tablet app, this has not been possible to do on an app in South Africa until now,” it says. “Customers can now open cheque accounts, credit cards and investment accounts.”
Meanwhile, the new personalised offers match specific products to customers based on their individual characteristics. “FNB Banking App users will be able to get pre-approved loans, accounts and investments offered to them as soon as they login, without having to search for them.”
Features that FNB has added in the past year include the ability to purchase iTunes codes for customers as gifts, a new eBucks menu that lets users check balances and rewards levels, and share investment and stockbroking, allowing users to trade shares and view stock market information in real time. — © 2014 NewsCentral Media
