Google Fast Flip will enrage, not pacify, publishers

Why does everyone seem to think Google’s Fast Flip will save the news industry from collapsing? Looking at the site, I see only the opposite, and not just for newspapers, but for online publishers as well, writes Jared Newman of PC World.

Unlike Google News, which is basically a launching pad for people to visit other websites, Fast Flip dominates the user experience. After clicking on an article, you don’t go to that publication’s Web page. Instead, you see a significant chunk of the story — five paragraphs or more, by my estimate — on Google’s website, with Google’s ads. You’ll even notice that the site’s own display ads are missing.
