The national power grid was stable on Friday and would remain stable over the weekend, Eskom said.
“The power grid is stable and we expect the peak this evening will be lower than previous evenings so we are not anticipating a shortfall,” spokesman Andrew Etzinger said.
“There is no need for load curtailments. There will be no load shedding but we will continue to monitor the grid.”
Etzinger said that next week, Eskom was expecting the power grid to be under pressure in the early evenings but there would be no load shedding.
The power utility declared a power emergency on Wednesday night. — Sapa
