Transaction values processed through Nedbank’s App Suite have exceeded R23bn in the little over 12 months since the transactional banking application was released.
The number was disclosed by Nedbank chief information officer Fred Swanepoel in a statement on Monday in which the bank announced it was releasing a major update to the App Suite, with new features such as the ability to create a market watch list of shares on the JSE.
The bank released the App Suite a year ago, with Android phones the first to receive it. It has since been expanded to run on BlackBerry and Apple devices as well as selected Nokia phones.
New features in the upgraded app include an enhanced enrolment process so that enrolment for retail banking can be done entirely on the device and a new “secure inbox” that allows Nedbank to send secure messages and notifications to clients.
Also, “NedApps” have been grouped into categories such as “Admin”, “Tools” and “Nedbank Sport”. Customers can sort these apps in their preferred order.
All users have been notified of the upgrade via a message within the Nedbank App Suite, requesting them to update from the appropriate app store, the bank said in the statement. — (c) 2013 NewsCentral Media
