Cellular network operator Vodacom has introduced a new service that allows SA consumers to play the Lotto via their mobile phones and desktops. The service is also available to subscribers to other networks.
Should a consumer win money playing the National Lottery, they will be notified via SMS about their winnings and the funds will be automatically credited to an electronic wallet that is created when consumers register to play.
Users have to deposit money into this wallet via electronic funds transfer or cash deposit, which is then used to play the lottery.
“Customers will now be able to play the National Lottery anywhere, even in the comfort of their own homes,” says Vodacom digital media managing executive Prins Mhlanga. “They also don’t need to worry about losing their National Lottery tickets because they will have a record of all the games played.”
The service is operated by Vodacom in partnership with Gidani, the National Lottery’s operator, and Lidonga Technology and Telecoms. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
