The iPhone 4S, the latest version of Apple’s iconic smartphone, will go on sale in SA on 16 December, cellular network operator Vodacom said in a tweet on Thursday. MTN has confirmed it will commence sales of the device on the same day.
The launch of the device in SA had been expected late last month, but was delayed by three weeks. Vodacom said in its tweet that presales of the device had already begun.
TechCentral reported recently that SA would be included in the next wave of the product’s global roll-out.
The iPhone 4S was launched first in seven countries — the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, France, Germany and Japan — on 14 October, before being expanded to 29 countries in total.
Apple has said it wants the 4S, which sold 4m units in its first three days on sale — breaking previous sales records — to be available in more than 70 countries by the end of the year. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
