Former Internet Solutions (IS) CEO Angus MacRobert is continuing to make investments in the technology sector, snapping up a stake in Aspivia and helping expand the business of an earlier investment, Three6Five Network Solutions.
MacRobert has made a range of investments since leaving IS in October 2009, including acquiring stakes in Internet service providers Axxess and Echo as well as in e-commerce businesses Wantitall and Randgo.
Now he has taken a minority stake in Aspivia, which develops telecoms billing management systems for corporate customers and service providers, for an undisclosed sum. And he’s helping Three6Five Network Solutions, a networking specialist, ramp up its investments, creating a new Cape Town-based company, Three6Five Systems, to provide managed network services. There’s also technology products specialist Three6Five Network Technologies. MacRobert has direct stakes in all Three6Five businesses.
Now he’s talking about the possibility of putting all of his investments together and listing the vehicle on the JSE. “I’m still looking for that one business with a bit of critical mass that would give us bigger earnings,” he says. “Then we could perhaps go and list. But we can’t force that. It must happen naturally.” — Duncan McLeod, TechCentral
