An episode of TalkCentral that focused on the future of DStv was TechCentral’s most popular podcast in July 2018, statistics from platform partner iono.fm reveal.
The podcast included a wide-ranging discussion between show hosts Duncan McLeod and Regardt van der Berg on the challenges facing the MultiChoice-owned pay-television platform and followed the company’s decision to open the SuperSport channels to all subscribers for several weeks.
An interview with Joshua Miltz, co-founder of the new South African cryptocurrency investment platform BitFund, snuck into second place in July, ahead of the third-placed interview with John Collison, the Irish-born founder of Stripe and the world’s youngest dollar billionaire.
In fourth was an interview with Seacom’s chief development officer, Suveer Ramdhani, on the past, present and future of the telecommunications provider. Rounding out the top five for July was an interview with Aldred Dreyer, newly appointed head of the project management office for digital migration in South Africa.
Other podcast interviews that enjoyed high listenership last month included ones with author and entrepreneur Nic Haralambous and Touch HD founder Tbo Touch, who revealed he will launch an Internet video streaming service later this year called THD.
