Get breaking news from TechCentral in WhatsAppDid you know that TechCentral, South Africa’s leading business-focused technology publication, has launched a channel on WhatsApp for breaking news?

The breaking news feature utilises WhatsApp Channels, which were launched last year, and are described by parent Meta Platforms as a “one-way broadcast tool for admins to send text, photos, videos, stickers and polls”.

Privacy is built into the new WhatsApp Channels — users don’t see other channel members’ names or phone numbers unless they are already saved in their contacts.

To subscribe to our Breaking News channel on WhatsApp, follow these easy steps:

    • Ensure your WhatsApp software is up to date by checking the Google Play store or the App Store on your Android device or iPhone. On desktop, check your app store or the WhatsApp website to update.
    • Click this link, which will take you to TechCentral’s Breaking News channel. If asked, click to join the channel.
    • Unmute the channel as it is muted by default – look for the bell icon and press it. (You can always mute it later.)
    • You will find the latest updates from TechCentral under the Updates tab in WhatsApp.
    • You can leave the channel at any time — you are in full control.
    • Share the link above with your friends and colleagues in the tech industry, or anyone who you believe might enjoy TechCentral’s articles.

We value you highly as a reader, and we thank you for choosing to get your technology news from TechCentral.
