LanDynamix future-proofs Graphica in move to cloud

A continuing relationship is seeing LanDynamix future-proof Graphica’s ICT environment, taking a strong service focus based on the cloud.

Graphica is a packaging specialist, creating solutions for the wine, spirits, stationery, bookbinding and promotional packaging industries that complement its brand aspirations. It is a part of the Winter Group of companies.

When Graphica moved into its new premises at 1 Bompas Road in Dunkeld, Johannesburg, it needed to find a voice and data solution rapidly. The company’s business is heavily dependent on its ability to serve clients through either voice or data channels — this means not only high-quality communication links but quick access to backoffice files in order to obtain stock details.

Speed and accuracy are very important to delivering a good customer experience whatever the channel

“Speed and accuracy are very important to delivering a good customer experience whatever the channel,” says Simon Grose, MD of Graphica. “As LanDynamix was already servicing several other tenants in the building, and reports were positive, we decided to use them. It was the beginning of a real relationship between the two companies.”

Having implemented a voice and data system for Graphica, LanDynamix was then asked to take over the company’s infrastructure and software. A related project was to conduct an audit of both areas across the company in order to move everybody onto the same standard.

The benefits of this include better tech support that can be delivered remotely — Graphica no longer needs an onsite technical resource. Service requests are logged by e-mail and fulfilled remotely; in similar vein, new equipment can be ordered easily via service requests.

    Easier to manage

Standardisation also means that everybody is working on the same software, greatly promoting collaboration. Only one licence is needed, and updates are much easier to manage.

In the first quarter of 2019, LanDynamix completed a project to move Graphica’s IT environment into the cloud. For Graphica, the benefits are already evident. It no longer has to provide and manage a dedicated in-premise server room, and employees can access the information they need wherever they are by logging into the cloud environment.

At the same time, Graphica has seen a considerable cost reduction.

    LanDynamix MD Peter Clarke

“We have technology experts in our corner who will ensure we don’t fall behind in this fast-moving space,” said Graphica MD Simon Gose.

LanDynamix is also providing managed security to Graphica’s environment to protect the corporate data and repel hackers.

“By providing ICT as a managed service from end to end, we are essentially able to create a utility-like effect for Graphica. ICT becomes a service that complements what the business is doing, and is flexible enough to adapt to its changing needs,” said LanDynamix MD Peter Clarke.

Graphica’s Gose added that the relationship with LanDynamix has delivered significant benefits to date. “I would highlight the increased efficiencies that come with their service model and the cost savings,” he said. “But I’m particularly glad that we have technology experts in our corner who will ensure we don’t fall behind in this fast-moving space.”
