The default wallpapers on Windows have become some of the iconic images of our time. So, when Microsoft unveils the new default wallpaper for a new version of its ubiquitous operating system, it’s kind of a big deal.
Microsoft on Thursday evening revealed that the default wallpaper on the upcoming Windows 10 — which will be released on 29 July — will be the Windows 10 logo, built out of light.
The Verge reports that the software giant used “camera mapping techniques, lasers and projectors to create the new hero image that will be used on millions of PCs that ship with Windows 10”. Watch the Microsoft-supplied video below for more.
The new wallpaper will reportedly only be available when Windows 10 ships to consumers next month.
