Wi-Fi service provider AlwaysOn is hoping to bring Wi-Fi Internet to a bigger audience by allowing consumers to buy access using cash at Pick n Pay stores. Selected stores are now carrying prepaid data cards from AlwaysOn.
Until now, consumers had to buy access to AlwaysOn using a debit or credit card on the company’s website.
The new prepaid cards cost R199, and offer users 10GB of data — enough to download or stream 3 000 songs, according to AlwaysOn.
AlwaysOn hotspots are available at about 2 500 locations around the country.
The vouchers are available at 108 Pick n Pay stores.
Pick n Pay also has a number of stores that offer AlwaysOn hotspots. They are the supermarkets or hypermarkets in Benmore, Brackenfell, Canal Walk, Cavendish, Constantia Village, Greenstone, Hurlingham, Kenridge, Ottery, Randridge, Rosmead (Express) and the V&A Waterfront.
There is also an AlwaysOn hotspot at Pick n Pay’s head office in Cape Town. — (c) 2016 NewsCentral Media
