Google has emerged as the most attractive employer among professionals in the technology and engineering sectors, according to a new survey.
Students, meanwhile, rated Transnet tops in the same sector.
Employer branding company Universum said Google emerged tops in the category in the 2016 Most Attractive Employer Awards when it came to professionals. The Internet giant was followed by Microsoft South Africa, with Eskom in third place.
Among students, Sasol followed Transnet in second place, with Eskom ranked third.
Every year, Universum, a Swedish-headquartered multinational, conducts research across the world. In South Africa, the company interviewed more than 45 000 tertiary institution students as well as over 21 000 professionals across a range of industry sectors.
The survey found that students are looking for leadership opportunities and professional training and development, with these traits being the most preferred attributes that drive employer attractiveness.
The top-ranked company overall in the survey was KPMG.
Winners in other categories among professionals were Google (business, commerce and management professions), the CSIR (sciences), department of justice and constitutional development (law).
Among students, KPMG topped the list in the business, commerce and management professions, with the CSIR coming first in the sciences. In law, Webber Wentzel topped the list for students. — (c) 2016 NewsCentral Media
