Avanti Communications has partnered with Q-KON to deliver LEO satellite services via the Eutalsat OneWeb constellation in South Africa.
Avanti communications, a British satellite solutions provider with a footprint across sub-Saharan Africa, has launched low-Earth orbit (LEO) connectivity services in South Africa.
Avanti has partnered with Q-KON to deliver the service, which will utilise Eutelsat OneWeb’s LEO constellation.
“This is a strategically significant move for us in multi-orbit [services] and we hope that this is the first of many LEO partnerships globally,” Kyle Whitehill, CEO of Avanti Communications, said in a statement on Monday.
In an interview with TechCentral in April, Whitehill said that Avanti has four of its own satellites in geostationary orbit to serve its customers.
However, the company sells a solution-based service, relying on partnerships with other satellite providers that have infrastructure in the MEO (medium-Earth orbit) and LEO ranges to support use cases where its own satellite infrastructure is not suitable. – © 2024 NewsCentral Media
