JSE-listed technology group Datatec’s largest subsidiary, distributor Westcon, has a new CEO. Dolph Westerbos will take the reins on 1 January from Dean Douglas, who is leaving Datatec to take up another role.
Westerbos is a joint US-Dutch national who has held a number of senior roles at Brambles, Dell and ModusLink in the past 20 years.
His experience has been principally gained in business-to-business services, covering the technology sector, supply chain and asset management as well as business process outsourcing (BPO) operations, Datatec says in a statement to shareholders.
For the past three years, Westerbos has worked at CHEP, the main operating company of Brambles. He was group president of the Asia-Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa operations as well as head of global strategy and marketing. He was responsible for revenues of US$2bn, 7 000 employees and operations in over 40 countries.
Prior to this, he worked for Dell where he was vice-president of solutions and services in Middle East and Africa, a business with revenues of approximately $2,5bn and operating across 50 countries and consisting of managed services, consulting, software and data centre products.
Previously, Westerbos helped set up Dell’s channel business in Europe, managing the company’s relationships with its value-added resellers.
Before Dell, he worked at Nasdaq-listed ModusLink, a global provider of supply chain, IT and business process outsourcing services.
Datatec CEO Jens Montanana says Westerbos’s experience in global supply chain operations and technology-based services, along with his focus on operational efficiency and international commerce will prove “invaluable” for the Westcon business. — (c) 2013 NewsCentral Media
