FNB Life, a division of First National Bank, announced on Monday that consumers can now take up funeral plans through nearly 6 700 FNB ATMs and Slimline devices across the country.
The insurance distributor and administrator’s CEO, Lee Bromfield, said in a statement that making funeral plans available via this channel is a “logical step as ATMs already enable citizens to access a number of services”.
“ATMs have become multi-purpose devices and one of the most used channels in rural communities and townships,” Bromfield said.
“This development offers consumers in those and other areas an opportunity to use this channel to get funeral plans from a provider they can trust, thus avoiding possible debt associated with paying for a funeral.”
Consumers can obtain a funeral plan via an ATM in one minute, mitigating potential queues associated with using shared resources such as ATMs, the bank said.
They can get cover from the minimum value of R10 000 to a maximum value of R60 000 for the main member. — (c) 2016 NewsCentral Media
