SABC board chairman Obert Maguvhe has resigned, the public broadcaster’s news service reported on Monday. He was the sole remaining member of the board.
Maguvhe, who faced a grilling last week in parliament over corporate governance failures at the SABC, tendered his resignation to President Jacob Zuma.
In a statement, the presidency said Zuma had received and accepted Maguvhe’s resignation. “The president has thanked Prof Maguvhe for his services during his tenure at the SABC and wished him all the best for his future endeavours.”
As chairman, Maguvhe was a staunch supporter of controversial former SABC chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng. — (c) 2016 NewsCentral Media
