Altron subsidiary Bytes Technology Group has acquired Alliance Business Solutions, an Oracle software specialist, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition has been done through Bytes Systems Integration.
The rationale for the deal is to position Bytes as “the partner of choice for Oracle” solutions, including cloud-based products.
Subsequent to the deal, which is still subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions, Bytes Systems Integration will become a platinum Oracle partner in SA, meaning it can sell services across the US software company’s application, middleware and database software as well as its hardware products.
Alliance employs 50 business and IT specialists and has been involved in the SA enterprise resource planning market for the past 12 years and an Oracle platinum partner for the past four.
Oracle SA MD Pieter Bensch says the deal will strengthen the relationship between his company and Bytes.
According to Bytes Systems Integration MD Rob Griggs, the deal will see the company launching various cloud computing initiatives in areas such as capital projects, human resources and other, complementary software-as-a-service offerings in Southern Africa.
“This strategy will also enhance our capabilities in Africa and the Middle East and open further expansion opportunities on the continent” says Griggs in a statement.
Alliance MD Brian Edy says the transaction will allow the company to “compete on a wider platform with other large Oracle partners and particularly into Africa”. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
