First National Bank has added shopping coupons from Shoprite Checkers to its smartphone banking app.
The deal allows FNB customers to access in-store savings at the point of sale, the bank said in a statement. Additional coupon partners will be added to the platform in the coming months, it said.
“You browse through the coupons available on the FNB app while shopping, and view the discount per product in rands,” explained FNB digital banking mobile payments head Johan Moolman.
“When paying for your goods at the till, you simply tell the cashier that you want to redeem coupons, and enter the single coupon code at the checkout. All qualifying products in your trolley are discounted immediately and you simply pay with your debit or credit card.”
In addition to coupons, FNB has added mobile vouchers to the app, in partnership with a number of retailers, including Makro, Nu Metro, Ster-Kinekor, Mr Price, Apple iTunes and Supa Quick.
Customers can purchase and send vouchers as gifts within the app. All purchased vouchers are stored within the app, and can be redeemed in-store by presenting the voucher code at the point of sale. eBucks discounts apply, too.
The new functionality is available on iOS, Android and Windows devices only. Those on BlackBerry and other devices will have to log in via the FNB website using their mobile phone’s browser. — (c) 2015 NewsCentral Media
