Telkom’s newly created open-access wholesale infrastructure company, Openserve, has announced plans to deploy fibre-optic broadband infrastructure to 10 000 homes in Pretoria East.
Surburbs such as Faerie Glen and Garsfontein will have access to fibre broadband by December, the company said in a statement.
The roll-out is part of Openserve’s plan to pass a million homes with fibre by March 2018.
At the end of September, Telkom announced fibre roll-out in Bryanston as well as multiple additional suburbs of Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Kimberley and Port Elizabeth.
Openserve provides access to its fibre infrastructure at speeds of up to 100Mbit/s. — (c) 2015 NewsCentral Media
