MTN South Africa has launched a new product called Data Share that allows its customers to share their data bundles with up to 20 other MTN numbers without incurring any Sim linking or connection fees.
The mobile operator says the service is meant to help people share data with family and friends “without costing them a cent”.
“With MTN Data Share, the main account holder can add and link Sim-enabled devices such as dongles, tablets and modems and MTN numbers of their extended family and friends free of charge,” the company said in a statement. “The main account holder can share data with these MTN numbers to ensure that any unused data does not go to waste.”
In the statement, MTN South Africa chief marketing officer Larry Annetts, said many of the company’s customers do not consume all of the data in their bundles.
He said the service will also allow clients to get away from the “administration hassle” of managing numerous accounts for their tablets, smartphones, modems and other devices.
It is available to prepaid, top-up, post-paid and My MTNChoice customers. — (c) 2015 NewsCentral Media
