Former Independent Communications Authority of SA (Icasa) chairman Paris Mashile has been appointed to the board of ComUnity, a local mobile-phone development company, as chairman.
Mashile is also a director at state-owned broadcasting signal distributor Sentech and is programme director for digital multimedia management at the Gordon Institute of Business Science in Johannesburg. He was previously CEO of Vunani Electronic Communications.
ComUnity CEO David Prosser, who has previously worked at Microsoft and Citrix, says Mashile has an “understanding of the political and regulatory landscape”, which he says will be “invaluable” to ComUnity. “Paris has a number of qualifications in the electronics and engineering fields, which give him a good understanding of ComUnity’s commercial offering.”
