Events conspired against us and we missed last week’s TalkCentral recording. But we’re back with a bumper episode 9 of SA’s business technology podcast, and there’s plenty to talk about.
Your hosts, Duncan McLeod and Candice Jones, delve in detail into Cell C‘s launch of its broadband wireless network and look at how it’s taking the fight to bigger rivals MTN and Vodacom. We also consider what Cell C’s reinvention means for Telkom‘s plans to launch a mobile subsidiary later this year.
We then talk about the exciting news that yet another submarine fibre cable project is on the cards, including plans by its SA backers to build a trunk across the Atlantic Ocean from Angola to Brazil. It’ll be the first transatlantic cable between Southern Africa and South America.
Also in this week’s show, we chat about the fight over interconnection fees between Telkom and MTN, Super 5 Media‘s plans to pull itself back from the brink of collapse, the Democratic Alliance’s new shadow communications minister, Natasha Michael, and the call by MWeb CEO Rudi Jansen for the money in the universal service fund to go to Telkom.
